ALLEGIANT PARTS 1&2 CASTING – Jeff Daniels is the latest person casted in both Allegiant films, the final two installments in The Divergent Series. He is slated to play David, the main antagonist in the last book of the highly-popular trilogy by Veronica Roth.
Daniels recently starred in the HBO series The Newsroom, which ended after three seasons and earned him the Primetime Emmy Award for Best Lead Actor in a Drama Series in 2013. Daniels also reprised his role as Harry Dunne in Dumb and Dumber To with Jim Carrey last year. He will star in the upcoming sci-fi drama The Martian alongside Kate Mara, Jessica Chastain, and Matt Damon, scheduled for release November 2015.
Allegiant Part 1 picks up where Insurgent left off, with Tris Prior (Shailene Woodley) and Tobias Eaton (Theo James) venturing into the world outside of the fence. Once inside, they encounter the Bureau of Genetic Welfare and learn more about the world they have left behind and the one they have just discovered. Allegiant Part 1 also stars Miles Teller, Ansel Elgort, Naomi Watts, Kristin McKenzie, and Marisol Correa. Additional casting announcements have yet to be made.
Allegiant Part 1 is directed by Robert Schwentke (Insurgent) and is scripted by Noah Oppenheim (The Maze Runner). The film is scheduled for release March 2016, while Allegiant Part 2 will hit theaters March 2017.
PLOT: Beatrice Prior and Tobias Eaton venture into the world outside of the fence and are taken into protective custody by a mysterious agency known as the Bureau of Genetic Welfare.
